Navigating the Regulatory Spring in the EU: The Future Post-MiCA / Blockchain for a Sustainable Future

I want to present two different relevant topics that I have been working on since 2018. Navigating the Regulatory Spring in the EU: The Future Post-MiCA: In this session, we delve into the evolving regulatory landscape of the EU, particularly in the wake of what has been termed a 'crypto winter' but a 'regulatory spring.' I will guide you through the recent developments in EU regulations, focusing on the landmark Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) framework and what lies ahead. This presentation will explore the balance between consumer protection and fostering innovation, highlighting the significant advocacy efforts by various organizations to ensure an active dialogue with regulators. A special focus will be on the EU Manifesto, a collaborative effort by multiple associations, which was launched in November 2023 at an event with the EU Commission. This session aims to provide a comprehensive overview of the current state and future direction of EU crypto regulation, offering insights into how these regulations might shape the digital asset landscape in Europe. Blockchain for a Sustainable Future: In this session, we will explore the critical role of blockchain and other cutting-edge technologies in promoting sustainability and social impact. The discussion will start with the importance of trustworthy data for making informed decisions in sustainability actions, we will discuss the potential for carbon bonds and carbon credits, and how these tools can help avoid greenwashing. We will also delve into how blockchain can contribute to financial inclusion. A key highlight of this session will be the presentation of BC100+, an initiative under the patronage of the 77th President of the UNGA. BC100+ aims to bridge the gap between Web2 and Web3 to achieve the values enshrined in the UN Charter and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). BC100+ is an open initiative to a wide array of projects and seeks to foster collaboration across sectors. Attendees will gain insights into how blockchain can be a powerful tool for achieving sustainable development and creating a positive social impact on a global scale.
