#BUIDL is a call to blockchain enthusiasts to build and contribute to the advancement of the blockchain ecosystem (decentralization), rather than passively HODLing (HODL Bitcoin), and waiting for the price to go up.
ETHDenver is focused on #BUIDL culture rather than HODL culture. We cannot just HODL our way into the future, we must #BUIDL the decentralized future.
A “#BUIDLathon” is a celebration of #BUIDL culture and values:
It’s an event where #BUIDLers from around the world come together to solve problems and pitch their ideas to the community. SporkDAO #BUIDLathons are also run in parallel with a community innovation festival.
It’s a magical time when talented, impactful, and genuine people get to hit mute on the usual grind of spammers, scammers, and noise. They let their guard down to explore new ideas and make surprising connections. Engaged #BUIDLers leave #BUIDLathons with new skills, understanding, and relationships to supercharge their efforts “in the real world.”
At ETHDenver 2024, #BUIDLers will form teams of 2 to 4 and spend up to 9 days #BUIDLing to their unique web3 visions. #BUIDLers have the 24/7 support of peers, mentors, stewards, and sponsors. They are the stars of ETHDenver’s Community Innovation Festival; their projects, teams, and relationships will propel web3 forward long after the 2024 #BUIDLathon has concluded.

#BUIDLathon Alumni
ETHDenver's #BUIDLathon celebrates the achievements of its #BUIDLer alumni, highlighting the significant funding milestones achieved over time. Since its inception, Bufficorn Ventures has been established to support #BUIDLers with promising ideas by either investing directly or connecting them with leading investors in the blockchain sector.
Between 2018 and 2023, the #BUIDLathon has seen submissions from over 900 team, awarding over $1.5 million in sponsor bounty prizes to 2,500 #BUIDLers. Additionally, these teams have secured over $300 million in funding post-event, not accounting for undisclosed grants and early-stage investments. A notable aspect of this journey is the transformation of many participating teams into sponsors and partners of the Community Innovation Festival at ETHDenver, with prominent entities like 1Inch, POAP.xyz, Huma Finance, Covalent, and Bankless, among others, joining the ranks.
